Day 11 at CML

Hours: 7.5 Total Hours: 82.5

The first roll of Ohio State Journal indexes is finished, but he didn’t have the time to set up any of the others. Aaron is also not on site yet. So, I get the next roll, and start up the program. It takes me a while to get it sorted out, because I did not take good notes last week, but eventually, I get it rolling.

While it scans, and I keep an eye on the edges, I sort the first roll into folders by year and letter. Then I create folders for the second roll. Once they are both scanned and sorted, Aaron shows me a Utility called Batch Rename Utility, which makes renaming all the files with the appropriate year and letter simple.

There is only one OCR machine on the floor, and Julie is using it, so Aaron takes the harddrive, and gives me a different one. He sets his computer to import and OCR the first two rolls, and will add the simple metadata and upload them when that is done. I set to work on roll #3, and leave it running when I finish for the night.
