Day 4 at Otterbein

Hours: 7.5 Total Hours: 26.5

Today, I worked on a weeding project and went to the Librarians Meeting.

The weeding project was for books in the Sociology section with zero circulation. I went to the shelves, to check the books on the list physically. I was looking for bookplates for special collections, as well as copies that were the last in OhioLink. These were pulled for Jane to review.

After lunch, I also worked on the spreadsheet. I normalized the entries in the Last Copy field, so they could be sorted more reliably. I also looked up the books in the library catalog, on OhioLink, in OPAL, and on Amazon, looking for newer editions, and updated content. At the end of the day, I emailed the work I had completed to Jane, for her review.

In the afternoon, I went to the Librarians Meeting, and was asked to take notes. The meeting format was discussed, as well as file organization. We talked about new files created to keep committees and notes organized. Intra-library communication was also addressed. There was also discussion of the Library class, faculty status, sabbaticals, and interns. After the meeting, I typed up the notes and sent the to the director for dissemination.
