Monday was a holiday, and the library was closed, so this week began on Tuesday morning. I checked in with Jane, and she let me know she had sent out the Usability Pre-Survey. We had 6 volunteers already, all faculty/staff, so she was going to send the survey out to the students again on Wednesday when they got back from fall break. I needed to start setting up the usability tests, and get the physics papers’ metadata edited, and upload the biology papers, to be approved pending authorization from the authors.
I started with SurveyMonkey. I wrote out an email to the volunteers, offering days and times that we could get together. I also wrote a quick draft of the Usability Test script, and emailed Jane about how we were going to record the sessions. I spent the rest of the morning finishing fixing the Physics papers’ copyright statements.
After lunch, I tried to upload the biology papers, but did not have access to that collection. I browsed through the DC website, and noticed a broken link to the Scholar’s Addendum, to help with copyright agreements.
I spent most of my afternoon on collection development. I printed out the next 100 items on the list and went up to the shelves to physically check the books and write notes about them.
Mid-afternoon, I took a break from that, and noted Jane had given me access to the biology collection. I spent about an hour putting those papers and their metadata up onto the DC.
Then I spent another hour on collection development before my meeting with Jane to go over my day, and my plan for Friday. I let her know about the broken link, as well.
I spent a bit of extra time at the library today, typing up my collection development notes, so that I could have a shorter day on Friday, since I had an interview to go to.
