Started the day, as usual, with a conversation about all the things on our plate this week. Some DC Survey edits, the Institutional Research Board, an email to biology faculty, and some metadata editing.
I started with the changes to the DC Use Survey, and then began working on filling out the IRB submission form, with all the information I had at hand. I then wrote a quick draft of an email to the biology faculty, and fixed some of my metadata errors on the Physics papers.
After lunch, I got an email back from Jane with her first letter to faculty, and edited my draft to include some of her marketing language.
I then spent a good deal of time researching copyright on the biology papers in question. We wanted to add some papers to the DC that showed students working with faculty, so the admissions folks could promote research opportunities to future students.
Later in the afternoon, I met with Jessica, the Reference Services Coordinator, to talk about what she does at the library. We talked about reference scheduling, and making the most of everyone’s time, through gathering statistics. We talked about the redesign of the main floor of the library, and how that is affecting the workflow for circulation and reference alike.
I finished my day with some more copyright checking and metadata gathering for a Mathematics article, Letters to Joel.
